Red Light, 2015
My fascination with distorted and surreal realities inspired this project Dreams are another way for us to understand deeper thoughts that are within us. This series depicts the worst nightmare I’ve ever experienced, I was being beaten and recorded for an online livestream on a dark-web show. I remember crying while being beaten to a bloody pulp by a group of men and crouching against a wall in agony. There was a red spotlight on me, I began to focus on the light bulb to numb the pain. Being able to recall these dreams in detail allowed me to begin writing them down in a journal as documentation, which is expressed in the last frame. During this year, I noticed a reoccurring pattern of red lighting indicating a sense of uneasiness in my nightmares. This goes to show how greatly affected we are by our imagination.
