Animals have always been a significant food source for humans. My photo is a critique on society’s large consumption of animal products. It represents my belief against animal cruelty. That, the idea of eating and packing animals into tiny plastic wrapped containers is both wrong and inhumane. I want to capture that shock factor and make this as unappealing as possible with this open bloody mouth and merging of the meat as skin. Therefore, forcing the viewer to feel this familiar experience as newly abnormal.
It’s an emotionally fulfilling thing watching these fake lives..

Inspired by Carrie Mae Weems’ Ain't Jokin' series in which African Americans are purposely placed in situations in which they have been stereotyped because of their race. Black men have typically been demonized and negatively portrayed within the media as thugs and gangsters, and overall criminals.
