In this series am referencing glamour shots taken in mall photo studios from the 90s and early 00s. My mom would take my siblings & I, or go with her friends to get these done. It became especially popular within the community she lived in which included a majority of latinx people. I created a contemporary version of the chola style among teenagers and young adults during that time. Acknowledging the trends of gold jewelry, thin eyebrows, brown lip liner, etc. paired with a tacky background and the hazy glow typical of the mall studio aesthetic.
